If you lamented the end of Game and Thrones, and have already worked your way through the most recent season of Stranger Things, you would have undoubtedly been relieved to hear that the fourth instalment of Rick and Morty is set to land on Netflix in November - a matter of months away.

Luckily, we have plenty to keep us entertained in the meantime. There's cable television for one, but more pressingly, the creators of the animated series have released the first images from the forthcoming season.

Check out the trailer for season four of Rick and Morty below:

In one image, Rick is seen on an alien planet looking much more blissed-out than usual, and in another he's entrapped by some rather hostile looking robot crocodiles.

Just what is going on here?

Now, if this isn't enough to tide you over, why not have a go at actually appearing in the Netflix show yourself?

The production house responsible for Rick and Morty - fronted by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland - are offering fans the opportunity to appear as a new character in an upcoming episode by making a donation of $10 to charity.

This coincides with the series' endorsement of two charitable organisations, NEXT for AUTISM, and Bergen County's United Way, two non-profits that help people struggling with autism.

If you make the donation and win, you and a friend will be flown out to Los Angeles, and get the chance to tour the production studios and meet Harmon and Roiland.

And it doesn't end there, folks, as you'll also be gifted some Rick and Morty merch, and of course, a character bearing your likeness will appear in the background of an episode of the show.

Raise your hand if you can't wait till November!
