Jared Leto has responded to the longstanding rumors that he sent a dead rat to Margot Robbie during the filming of Suicide Squad.
According to The Daily Mail, the actor and lead vocalist of Thirty Seconds to Mars spoke about the experience of filming the D.C. comic book movie while breaking down the most iconic roles of his career in a recent interview with GQ.
In the video in question, which was posted to GQ's YouTube channel on Friday, February 12, the 49-year-old Dallas Buyers Club star categorically denied that he sent a dead rodent to his co-star, who played Harley Quinn opposite his incarnation of The Joker.

Per The Mail, Leto stated:
"I never gave Margot Robbie a dead rat, that's not true.
"I actually gave her a lot of… I found this place in Toronto that had a great vegan cinnamon bun… so that was a very common thing.
"It's funny how all this stuff takes on a life of its own."
Leto then went on to open up about his experience of playing the part of the Clown Prince of Crime, adding:
"It's this generation's version of, like, taking on an infamous Shakespearean character, lots of people have played the before, lots of people will play it in the future."

The rumor about the dead rodent apparently stemmed from a 2016 Shortlist interview with Margot Robbie, who stated that Leto sent her a living and friendly rat, which she found "surprising."
She also added that she found the experience of working with Leto pleasant, stating:
"To have such commitment from the other half made my job a thousand times easier, and a thousand times more fun. I didn't know what was going to happen when we got on set. It's exciting to act opposite that."

According to IndieWire, Warner Bros has recently made the decision to release a longer cut of the 2017 movie Justice League, which now features an extended sequence in which Leto's iteration of the Joker makes an appearance.
Per IndieWire, the scene in question is a dream sequence in which Leto's Joker interacts directly with Ben Affleck's Batman, showing him the consequences of the alien tyrant's Darkseid upcoming invasion of Earth.
