The final season of Game of Thrones was probably the one the divided opinion the most since the series premiered. Of course, with so many characters and so many dangling plot threads, it was always going to be impossible to please everyone. But that doesn't mean that there aren't plenty of fans out there who wish that things had turned out differently.
Even some members of the main cast have had their misgivings about the end of the show, including Arya Stark's actress Masie Williams, who has revealed that she has one regret from the show's final season.
Watch the scene where Arya Stark enacts her revenge on House Frey:In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Masie stated: "I just wanted to be on set with Lena again, she’s good fun, and I wanted Arya to kill Cersei even if it means [Arya] dies too. Even up to the point when Cersei’s with Jaime I thought [while reading the script], ‘He’s going to whip off his face [and reveal its Arya]’ and they’re both going to die. I thought that’s what Arya’s drive has been."
However, she conceded that she felt it was important for Arya's character arc for her to be able to let go of her all-consuming vengeance, stating: "The Hound says, ‘You want to be like me? You want to live your life like me?’ When The Hound asks her if she has another option, all of a sudden there are so many more things in [Arya’s] life that she can live for, that she can do. It was a shock for me because that wasn’t how I envisioned her arc going this year. Then I realized there were other things I could play, bringing Arya back to being a 16-year-old again."
Check out the amazing scene where Arya defeats the Night's King:Lena herself seemed to want the same situation to play out, stating: "I lived that fantasy until I read the script. There were chunky scenes and it was nothing that I had dreamt about. It was a bit of come down and you have to accept that it wasn’t to be. There is something poetic about the way it all happens in the end with her and Jaime."
However, Masie isn't the only one wishing that things had panned out differently. Check out this article we penned about the one thing that Emilia Clarke wanted to see in season eight.
