Mark Ruffalo is in big trouble as he accidentally shares 'Avengers 4' spoiler
We've all let out a secret that we really shouldn't have from time to time - but most of us haven't got ourselves in huge trouble with Marvel doing it.
That's exactly what Mark Ruffalo did this week when he accidentally shared an Avengers 4 spoiler on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Rest assured, he lived to regret it.
The drama started when the Now You See Me actor leaked the title in his episode on the late night talk show, which aired on Friday evening in the United States.
Luckily for him though, the episode is not aired live, meaning that the 50-year-old had time to beg Jimmy to cut his big mistake.
Making fans aware of his slip-up, Mark took to Twitter to tweet the talk show host mere hours before his appearance aired, writing: "@JimmyFallon, I trust that you will cut my spoiler slip on the show tonight. That was 'off the record' homey. Please don’t get me in trouble with Marvel (Barry) again. DM me back. M."
It appeared that all hope was lost when Jimmy replied: "Dude, it’s too late – already sent the final show to Burbank for air. Are you sure you’re gonna be in trouble? We could maybe bleep it out. What is ‘DM’?’"
The hugely anticipated fourth Avengers is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who are keeping the new title a closely guarded secret. Needless to say, the pair weren't impressed when they caught wind of the leak.
Commenting on the actor's original tweet, the Russo Brothers jokingly wrote three words that most likely broke him out in a cold sweat: "Mark, you're fired."
So, did the big secret air in the end?
Fortunately for the 13 Going on 30 actor though, the name of the new movie, due to be released in April 2019, was bleeped out on the Jimmy Fallon episode.
A clip of the final show sees host Jimmy ask the actor: "I don't want to get you in trouble with the studio, or Marvel, but maybe, could you even just [tell us] the title?"
After a moment of doubt, the actor replies: "Alright, I think I can probably tell you that. I think it's already out there."
You can watch his lucky save here:
It's not the first time Mark has leaked a big spoiler about Avengers. In 2017, he accidentally told interview Don Cheadle: "Let me just say this; Like every other Marvel movie, it doesn’t end well for the superheroes...Wait 'till you see this next one, half... everybody dies."
Panicking afterwards, he tried to take it back, saying: Not everybody - no. Is that - can we rewind that part? Am I in trouble? Is Barry going to be mad at me?"
Normally, however, Tom Holland is the main culprit when it comes to releasing accidental spoilers. In an Instagram video this year, the actor managed to tell fans the name of the new Spider-Man film, along with a major plot point from the recently released Avengers: Infinity War film.
Gosh, what a bunch of loose-lipped men they have down at marvel!
