Netflix is releasing loads of horror movies and TV shows ahead of Halloween

It's almost October, and we all know what that means: It's spooky season!

As the leaves fall from the trees and the skies darken, it's time to prepare ourselves for the coming of Halloween.

And if you're a fan of all things terrifying, then you're probably hoping to watch some spine-chilling horror movies over the coming weeks. But maybe you're looking for something a little bit more exciting and novel?

If that's the case, you might be happy to learn that Netflix has just has released its annual 'Netflix and Chills' programming lineup, and there are plenty of scary TV shows and movies to get excited about in the near future. Here are their most exciting new titles:

1. #Alive

A South Korean movie released to Netflix's library on September 8, #Alive tells the story of a video game live streamer's struggle for survival as he is forced to stay alone at his apartment in Seoul during a zombie apocalypse.

2. The Babysitter - Killer Queen

A sequel to the 2017 high school horror-comedy, starring Samara Weaving, Judah Lewis, Hana Mae Lee, Robbie Amell, and Bella Thorne, the film follows Cole Johnson, who is all grown up after surviving a deadly encounter with a vicious teenage cult.

But an invitation to his crush's party at a lake leads Cole to confront his traumatic past.

3. The Haunting of Bly Manor

The follow-up to Netflix's critically-acclaimed miniseries The Haunting of Hill House, this spiritual sequel is an adaptation of The Turn of the Screw by author Henry James, utilizing many of the same cast members in new roles, and helmed by Mike Flanagan.

4. The Paramedic

This Spanish psychological thriller tells the story of an obsessive man named Angel, who is left confined to a wheelchair after a serious accident.

Angel suspects that his partner is cheating on him, and soon spirals into a depression, and embarks on a delusional rampage of revenge.

5. Ratched

A prequel to the Ken Kesey novel One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Ratched follows the early life and career of the antagonistic Nurse Ratched at a mental asylum, years before meeting Randall McMurphy.

Created by American Horror Story showrunner Bryan Murphy, the origin story stars Sarah Paulson as the eponymous nurse.

6. A.M.I.

If you like Black Mirror, chances are that you'll love this. A.M.I. follows the murder rampage of a young girl, who gradually becomes obsessed with an artificial intelligence app on her phone which manipulates her into horrific crimes.

7. We Have Always Lived In The Castle

We Have Always Lived In The Castle is the second adaptation of the works of author Shirley Jackson. This gothic chiller tells the story of an 18-year-old girl, isolated in her family's country estate with her sister and uncle after a terrible tragedy.

8. Hubie Halloween

This Adam Sandler holiday special sees him play the character of Hubie Dubois, a local eccentric who has to rally to save his fellow townspeople after a number of mysterious disappearances lead to him suspecting foul play.

Sandler stars alongside Ray Liotta, Steve Buscemi, Michael Chiklis, and Noah Schnapp.

9. Rebecca 

It looks like 2020 is somewhat of a gothic year for Netflix, with this adaptation of the Daphne du Maurier novel. The story concerns two newlyweds who are threatened by a malevolent housekeeper while living in their new home.

So there you have it. If you ask me, this year's Halloween celebrations are going to be pretty spooky! I certainly don't think I'll be watching any of these on my own...
