Now, if that doesn't send a shiver down your spine, we don't know what will.
The first installment of the series, The Haunting of Hill House (based on the novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson) was critically acclaimed Netflix series completely reinvented the horror genre - proving that - when done right - television shows can be as terrifying and as emotional as the best movies.
This second series is inspired by the Henry James novel The Turn of the Screw, but show creator Mike Flanagan has explained that it won’t be a like-for-like adaptation.
Speaking on a panel for the Fantasia International Film Festival Flanagan said:
"It’s not about doing a straight adaptation anymore – that’s already been done. We’d cover two episodes, and then we’d have eight episodes of filler. I need to make a 10-hour version of this."
The Haunting of Bly Manor's synopsis reads: "The story tells of a young governess hired by a man to look after his niece and nephew at the family country house after they fall into his care. Arriving at the Bly estate, she begins to see apparitions that proceed to haunt the premises."
Showrunner Mike Flanagan said that three separate storylines will playout throughout the series, including one about a man who takes on the care of two orphaned children after moving to the English countryside.
