Netflix is set to release new true-crime thriller documentary series 'Killer Inside', which examines the life of former NFL tight end and convicted murderer Aaron Hernandez.
The trailer for the three-part-series dropped on Netflix's official YouTube channel earlier this week, promising viewers that it will: "go beyond the headlines" to reveal how the football player "went from in-demand athlete to wanted man."
Take a look at the dramatic trailer for the documentary below:The series is entitled: 'Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez.' Set to air on January 15th, the show will use exclusive courtroom footage, Hernandez's phone calls from prison, and a series of interviews from those who knew him, to explore the life of the New England Patriots player's psyche; from his troubled upbringing to his battles with drug abuse and violent behavior.
Hernandez, who signed a five-year $40 million (£30.4 million) deal with the Patriots back in 2010, was arrested and charged for the murder of semi-professional player Odin Lloyd in 2013.

Hernandez was later found guilty of the murder of Lloyd, who had been dating his sister. In 2015 he was sentenced to serve life in prison without the possibility of parole, and also indicted for the 2012 double homicide of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado.
Days before being acquitted of the double homicide, Hernandez was found dead in his cell. His death was ruled a suicide, but his autopsy determined that he had been suffering from severe chronic traumatic encephalopathy sustained during his career as an athlete, which may have affected his antisocial behavior.

However, this isn't the first true crime documentary to drop on streaming services lately. Check out this article we penned all about the documentary Netflix released about a group of cat lovers who tracked down a murderer and alleged cannibal.
