The Game of Thrones finale is one of the most hotly-anticipated pieces of television in... ever!

Now, the bets are on as to who will sit on the Iron Throne after Daenerys quite literally obliterated the only person standing between her and ruling the Seven Kingdoms, Cersei, in last week's episode. As a result, she undid all the good work she'd done up until this point, becoming the Mad Queen and killing countless innocents, even when King's Landing had surrendered.

After last week's episode, viewers (and poor Varys, who saw it coming) are convinced of one thing: Daenerys is not fit to sit on the Iron Throne, and with one dragon in toe, the only way she's going to give it up is over her dead body.

This is the blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment Varys tried to poison Daenerys:

While fans have been speculating as to who will kill her, they have concluded that Jon Snow might have to die.

If this turns out to be the case, the number of candidates who could sit on the Iron Throne will increase dramatically, as Jon is currently the most legitimate heir, even though he's said time and time again that he doesn't want the throne.

In case your memory needs refreshing, Jon Snow has already died once before, and, as was made perfectly clear by Melisandre, the Lord of Light only lets people come back from the dead to fulfill a specific purpose.

Clearly, Jon's was more than just destroying the Night King - otherwise, he'd be dead by now.

And if he is not to sit on the Iron Throne, the only other possibility is that he was brought back to help destroy the Night King and put an end to what will undoubtedly be a very short reign for the Mad Queen.

If you haven't seen it yet, this is the trailer for the last ever episode:

So, with that in mind, Jon has two possible fates: he's either going to put an end to Daenerys or sit on the Iron Throne.

However, given the show's reputation for being unpredictable, the former, to us, seems like too near an ending.
