In 2014, a movie came out about a grieving widower with a little dog. The grieving man meets the wrong people, and the dog is killed by gangsters. That man was John Wick, played by Keanu Reeves, and what ensued was a roaring rampage of revenge in which the world's greatest assassin proceeded to kick major butt.

John Wick was rightly hailed as a masterful action movie, and inspired a further two sequels not long after. As if that wasn't exciting enough, after John Wick: Parabellum was released in cinemas, it was announced that the creator is working on a TV series based on the movie trilogy.

The TV show is reportedly going to be called: The Continental, and will be set in and based around the eponymous hotel that assassins seek refuge in. Now, at a recent press tour, director Jeffrey Hirsch has confirmed that the series will be a prequel -chronologically set before the first film

In a recent interview with Deadline, Hirsch said: "My sense is that where we are today, the movie date has been set but we're still in early development on the series so [it will air] most likely after."

However, the director wasn't very candid about whether Keanu Reeves would return for the series in any capacity. When asked about Reeves' involvement, he simply replied: "That’s a really good question that I’m not going to answer. No answer is as good a tease you’re going to get. It’s a great franchise, we’re excited about bringing that show to the network."

The series is being produced by Lionsgate TV. Screenwriter Chris Collins (who has worked on the hit HBO series The Sopranos and The Wire) will serve as showrunner.

Personally, I can't wait to check out this show when it airs. I have a feeling it will be phenomenal.
