Netflix's hit docuseries, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness, has been keeping many of us who are self-isolating entertained through this unprecedented time. From Joe Exotic's diss tracks to the question of whether Carole Baskin killed her husband, it's a rip-roaring ride through the underbelly of America's exotic animal owners.
Now, per Variety, Nicolas cage is due to play the eccentric zookeeper in a new television series.
According to the publication, the eight-episode series is being produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS Television Studios, and is due to be taken to market in the coming days. The series is based on the Texas Monthly article: Joe Exotic: A Dark Journey into the World of a Man Gone Wild, which was written by Leif Reigstad.
CBS TV Studios reportedly optioned the article in June of 2019. Variety details that 56-year-old Cage will also be acting as executive producer, and that the script will be written by American Vandal showrunner Dan Lagana.
The television series is the first for the Oscar-winning actor, whose film credits include National Treasure, Moonstruck and Leaving Las Vegas.
The Netflix docuseries, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem And Madness, was released back in March, and per Nielsen Data, it is estimated to have reached 34.3 million viewers in its first 10 days of being on the streaming service.
