There's no doubt that Peaky Blinders is one of the best crime dramas on the air right now. For those of you who haven't had the chance to catch up yet, let me assure you: you're missing out.
Based on real-life history, the show tells the story of Irish actor Cillian Murphy's traumatized war veteran Tommy Shelby and his ruthless rise to power on the mean streets of Birmingham in the aftermath of the First World War.

Yet showrunner, writer, and creator Stephen Knight has seemingly extended an olive branch to fans who are desperate to keep it alive, claiming that a movie is going to happen someday in the future.
Speaking to Deadline, Knight stated:
"Covid changed our plans. But I can say that my plan from the beginning was to end [Peaky Blinders] with a movie. That is what is going to happen."
According to The Daily Mail, Knight also touched upon the future of the series, and the delays to its final season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, in an official public statement posted on Monday, January 18.
Per The Mail, Knight stated:

Knight added:
"We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form."
Meanwhile, The Mail reports that BBC executive producer Tommy Bulfin stated: "We are very excited that filming for Peaky Blinders has begun and so grateful to everyone for all their hard work to make it happen.
"Steve's scripts for series six are truly remarkable and provide a fitting send-off which we are sure will delight fans."
Filming for the sixth season originally commenced back in the city of Manchester in November of 2019, but the production was significantly delayed due to lockdown restrictions. It is not yet known when the sixth season will air, but hopefully, it will still be worth the wait.
