You star, Penn Badgley, has debunked a popular fan theory regarding the identity of his new neighbour that we get a glimpse of at the end of season two.
Season two of Netflix's You left fans on a cliffhanger after it appeared that Joe had fallen for a new woman, despite him moving into a new home with his pregnant girlfriend, Love Quinn.
In the closing scene, we watch Joe walk out into his backyard and look over the fence to spot his new neighbour sat near a pool reading - with a large hat covering her face.
Watch the trailer to season 2 of You:"This is just the beginning, because this is where I had to be. Exactly where I had to be to meet you. There you were with your books and your sunshine. So close, but worlds away. I will figure out a way: a way to get to you. See you soon, neighbour," Joe narrates.
Now, given the fact that during the second season, viewers were given more information about Joe's upbringing and his complicated relationship with his mother, this led to many fans speculating that the woman wearing the hat was none other than Joe's mum.
However, Badgely shot down this rumour in a recent interview with Bustle, saying "She's definitely not his mom. I can say that."

In other news, while You season 2 only dropped on Boxing Day, it looks like it was so much of a success that a follow up is in order.
Penn Badgley, who portrays the incredibly creepy Joe (and Will), seemed to have let the secret out in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. While discussing the possibility of a female killer being discovered in the current series, he said "She doesn't appear to be the same kind of person. She doesn't appear to be the same kind of predator. She doesn't appear to be the same kind of... you know, dare I say, in the third season - oh, god!"
Quickly realising his mistake, the 33-year-old slapped his head, but of course, the reporter didn't let it go, and proceeded to press him for further details. "I literally know nothing about the third season," the actor responded.
The reporter then asked: "Are we going to get a third season?" Badgley nodded and said, "Technically I can't... I mean, like, unofficially?"
