People have been watching Denzel Washington's "best film of all time" on Netflix and can't help but take to social media to praise it.
Man on Fire, which was first released in 2004, has recently entered the Netflix charts. The movie stars Washington, now 66, as a former CIA officer who has been hired to protect the daughter of a Mexican family after a series of brutal kidnappings.
However, despite the family taking this precaution, their daughter is kidnapped anyway, sending Washington on a collision course with the gang responsible for her disappearance.
"I'm gonna kill 'em; anyone who was involved, anybody who profited from it, anybody who opens their eyes at me," Washington's character says.
Watch the moment the girl is kidnapped below:Despite having a viewer rating of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes, critically, it is rated at just 38%.
The film was described by one critic as "an exercise in assaultive excess [that] nevertheless lingers for two and a half hours, like a drunken houseguest who won't leave."
Meanwhile, a second described it as "shamelessly manipulative and sadistically violent… a new low for both Washington and Scott, and one of the nastier bits of business in quite some time."
However, since its release on Netflix, fans have been taking to social media to praise the movie.
One wrote: "Man on Fire added to Netflix, the best film ever made!"
A second added: "Just watched Man on Fire, first time in a long time… Christ, I have just bawled like a 5 year old. What a film, top 3 best ever imo. A must watch just arrived on Netflix [sic]."
A third wrote: "Man on Fire is on Netflix. Denzel's greatest film."
A fourth remarked: "Man on Fire is on Netflix... lemme watch it for the 87th time. I wonder if Denzel Washington knows how much I love him."
Meanwhile, a fifth added: "Currently watching Man On Fire on Netflix. Totally forgot how awesome this movie is."
If you haven't already seen this movie, I suggest you take the time this evening to experience it - you won't regret it.
FlixPatrol reports that Man on Fire is currently so popular on Netflix that it reached number two in the streaming service's charts.
