On the 25th anniversary of the hit sitcom Friends, actress Jennifer Aniston paid tribute to the show by christening her new Instagram account with a heartwarming selfie with her former cast members.

The selfie shows Aniston alongside Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc, Lisa Kudrow and Matthew Perry, and was captioned: "And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM [sic]."

However, a number of fans were left feeling a little suspicious of the picture after they noticed something on Matthew Perry's phone. Indeed, if you zoom in on the image and look carefully, you can see something white on his black phone.

More than a few social media users who saw the image then began wondering if it might be cocaine, and speculated on whether the Friends cast had been indulging in hard narcotics as part of their celebrations.

However, other people have pointed out that Perry has been open about his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction in the past, and has taken great pains to live free of addiction. The idea that he would clearly display drugs in a social media post seemed somewhat implausible.

Indeed, Matthew Perry himself has talked about his battle to gain sobriety, after he first became addicted to Vicodin following a skiing accident in 1997. Perry's addictions came to a head during the production of the show when he was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, and his personal problems were reportedly exacerbated by his meteoric rise to fame.

In a 2013 interview with E! Online, Perry stated: "I was in the white-hot flame of fame ... From an outsider's perspective, it would seem like I had it all. It was actually a very lonely time for me because I was suffering from alcoholism. It was going on before Friends, but it's a progressive disease. I wasn't a massive party guy. I wasn't a bull-in-a-china-shop kind of drinker."

So have the cast of Friends been up to something illegal? Considering how seriously Perry takes sobriety, it seems highly unlikely.
