Fans of the hit Netflix series Stranger Things will be disappointed to hear that Eduardo Franco, who portrayed fan-favorite character Argyle, believes he won't be returning for the show's fifth and final season.
The news came to light as the official Stranger Things Instagram page shared a photo of the cast together to mark the beginning of production for the final season.
While familiar faces like Millie Bobby Brown, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, and David Harbour were present, fans quickly noticed the absence of Eduardo Franco, who played Argyle in season four.
During an interview on the Steve Varley Show, Franco addressed the concerns raised by fans about his absence from the cast photograph.
Varley asked if there was hope that Franco would return for the final season, with the latter revealing he did not think there was much of chance of his return to the hit Netflix series.
While Varley expressed hope that Franco might still make a return as Argyle, the actor didn't appear particularly convinced.
And there's a good reason for it. Speaking on the show, the actor confirmed: "I never got a phone call, so I think that's it."
Considering production on the show has already started, Franco's thoughts on the matter are well-founded.
In any case, he went on to express his gratitude to the fans, saying: "It's nice to hear that there's some sort of concern or something, you know what I mean?
Franco's portrayal of Argyle, Jonathan Byers' best friend and a comedic pizza delivery guy, endeared him to Stranger Things fans.
Many expressed their disappointment and frustration on social media upon learning that Franco wouldn't be returning for the show's last season.
One fan lamented, "Wow, that's actually shocking if he's not in the Stranger Things last season." Another fan expressed anger, saying, "I'm p**sed." There were also calls for the show's writers to give Argyle a proper farewell and closure, as fans felt the character deserved it.
With production now underway for Stranger Things 5, fans will have to prepare for the final season without Argyle, but they can still look forward to the show's anticipated conclusion as it ties up the mysteries and adventures of Hawkins, Indiana.
