Stranger Things spoilers ahead!
The Stranger Things finale might have wrapped up its supernatural saga in dramatic fashion - but one character’s sudden disappearance has left fans scratching their heads.
Despite the show's epic conclusion, which spanned a hefty runtime and featured plenty of emotional moments, viewers were quick to point out that not every storyline got the closure it deserved. And one fan-favorite character in particular has completely vanished without a trace.
Final episode ties up some loose ends - but not all
Let’s start with the major events. The core gang manages to take down Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower), Kali (Linnea Berthelsen) dies, and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) stays behind in the Upside Down, sacrificing herself. Meanwhile, the rest of the group gets captured by the army.
Fast forward about 18 months and everything seems... fine? There’s no fallout from their actions, and the group appears to be moving on with their lives. Even the “oldest looking high school children” are preparing to graduate.
Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), Nancy (Natalia Dyer), Steve (Joe Keery), and Robin (Maya Hawke) meet up, promising to stay lifelong friends. But there's someone noticeably absent from this final scene - Robin’s girlfriend Vickie (Amybeth McNulty).
Vickie’s storyline just... vanishes?
Throughout the final season, Robin was juggling her battle with supernatural forces while trying to keep her relationship with Vickie afloat. At one point, everything seemed to come to a head in the hospital, when Robin attempted to explain the bizarre happenings.
She was brushed off as a "drug-addled lunatic" - that is, until chaos erupted and a group of supernatural monsters attacked the hospital, giving Vickie a terrifying firsthand look at the truth.
It looked like things were finally making sense. Vickie realized Robin wasn’t crazy and that all the talk about monsters and other dimensions was very real. But after that? Nothing. She simply doesn’t appear again.
Fans were quick to express their confusion, with some wondering how a character the show had spent time developing could just vanish.
One fan bluntly asked: "Where is Vickie?" Others echoed the sentiment, questioning: "How did they just write off Vickie?" and why she was "completely missing."
Robin does briefly mention “overbearing partners” during the rooftop scene with her friends - which many believe was a subtle nod to Vickie.
But whether that means they’re still together or have broken up remains a mystery. No one confirms it, and the show offers zero clarity.
It’s possible this loose thread could be picked up in a future Stranger Things spin-off or stage play, but for now, Vickie’s fate remains one of the finale’s biggest question marks.
