Last week the trailer dropped for Terminator: Dark Fate, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger once again as the T-800. (And even better, the movie takes place directly after Terminator 2: Judgment Day, ignoring those three mediocre sequels.) However, Arnie's not the only septuagenarian action star reprising an iconic character!
This year, Sylvester Stallone will star in Stop, Or My Mom Will Shoot You Again, a sequel to his infamous 1992 buddy-cop comedy. Just kidding. Actually, Stallone will star in Rambo V: Last Blood, the fifth and supposedly final entry in the popular Rambo franchise.
Watch the trailer for Rambo V: Last BloodThe teaser trailer dropped on Thursday, and it's got everything: somber voiceover narration about "one last fight": explosions going boom-boom real good, and the hit country-rap song Old Town Road. You know, the unlikely collaboration between Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus? Somehow, it totally works for the trailer. Huh. Imagine that.
The synopsis reads: "Almost four decades after he drew first blood, Sylvester Stallone is back as one of the greatest action heroes of all time, John Rambo. Now, Rambo must confront his past and unearth his ruthless combat skills to exact revenge in a final mission. A deadly journey of vengeance, RAMBO: LAST BLOOD marks the last chapter of the legendary series."
In 2006, Stallone released the sixth and final movie in the Rocky Balboa franchise (well, until he reprised the character in the spinoff series, Creed). With Last Blood, he appears to giving a similar send off to his other famous character. That is unless they make another spinoff - maybe Trautman, following the character of Colonel Samuel 'Sam' Trautman?
Like The Fast and the Furious franchise, the Rambo franchise has increasingly confusing titles. So, if you're planning a binge watch, here's the order: First Blood in 1982, Rambo: First Blood Part II in 1985, Rambo III in 1988, then Rambo in 2008. Yeah, it's confusing, but don't make fun of it or Stallone will rig your house with crazy boobytraps.
Rambo: Last Blood will be released in theaters on Sept. 20. And hopefully one day Stallone will reprise his iconic character Sergeant Joseph Bomowski and make Stop, Or My Mom Will Shoot You Again.
