Terry Crews is one of those actors who makes a show/movie/whatever better just by appearing in it. Ever since the former football player first bellowed his way into public consciousness (almost unseating Brian Blessed for the title of 'World's Loudest Man') after appearing in a series of Old Spice commercials, he's been a joy to watch.

As an actor, Crews boasts an undeniable comedic talent and charisma, which, coupled with his tough guy appearance, makes him one of the most hilarious actors in Hollywood. No wonder he's been so busy of late, appearing in Brooklyn 99, Deadpool 2, and he was even rumoured to be voicing a character in the online multiplayer FPS game Overwatch.

But now it seems Crews wants to add another string to his bow; by playing the character of King Triton in the upcoming live-action remake of Disney's The Little Mermaid.

After Disney announced that the character of Ariel will be played by African-American pop star Halle Bailey, it seemed only natural that a black actor should portray her father: the Lord of the Oceans. A number of internet users recommended Terry Crews for the role, and it seems as though Terry himself agrees that, with his rugged physique, he'd be the ideal candidate.

Not content with sitting around and waiting from a call from the casting director, Crews put together his own audition tape for the gig, which he shared to his official Instagram account just the other day. the Instagram clip in question even includes some special effects - namely a bubble-filled ocean filter.

This isn't the first time he's tried to capture the attention of Disney executives. Earlier this month he posted a photoshopped picture of himself as Triton, set against the backdrop of a sprawling underwater palace.

Not only this, but a vocal bunch of fans is also petitioning for Gordon Ramsay to play the chef in the new movie.
