Now, like many fans of Christopher Nolan's Dark Night Trilogy, when Twilight star Robert Pattinson was first announced as the new Batman for the upcoming 2021 movie about The Caped Crusader, I raised an eyebrow.

And don't try to deny it; we all thought Pattinson was a terrible choice at worst and an odd choice at best.

However, Matt Reeves - who will be directing the upcoming DC Comics movie - has finally shared a first-look at Pattinson as Bruce Wayne's alter ego, and I genuinely cannot wait to see this movie.

Check out our first glimpse of Pattinson in the Batsuit below:

The short clip shows Pattinson basked in red lighting (a nod to Batman Beyond, perhaps?), as a brief but dramatic score by composer Michael Giacchino.

Reeves has stated that the 56-second-long clip - shot by cinematographer Greig Fraser - is simply a camera test, with production on The Batman starting back in January in London.

The now highly-anticipated movie will also star Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle (Catwoman), Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot (Penguin), and Paul Dano will reportedly play the lead antagonist of the film, Edward Nashton, aka Riddler. Jeffrey Wright will also be playing the part of the beloved Commissioner Gordon.

In an interview with Variety last September, Pattinson revealed that he has been actively pursuing the role in The Batman, saying: "I’d had Batman in my mind for a while. It’s such an absurd thing to say. I sort of had an idea to do it, and I’d been prodding Matt. He didn’t accept any prods. I kept asking to meet him."

Speaking of the moment he first put on the Batsuit, Pattinson added: "You do feel very powerful immediately".

However, as I'm sure we can all imagine, a suit that tight isn't going to be easy to put on, as Pattinson confirmed as he said: "[The suit] is incredibly difficult to get into, so the ritual of getting into it is pretty humiliating.

"You’ve got five people trying to shove you into something. Once you’ve got it on, it’s like, 'Yeah, I feel strong, I feel tough, even though I had to have someone squeezing my butt cheeks into the legs'.'

Although no details surrounding the plot of the movie have been released yet, this short clip has certainly built my excitement for a movie I didn't originally want to see.
