Marvel Studios has been running for over ten years now, and since the first Iron Man movie hit theatres in 2008, it's only gotten bigger and bigger. Just this year, we saw Black Panther repeatedly break records, landing a huge hit for the studio with fans and critics alike - even being nominated for Best Picture at the Golden Globes this year.
Then we were treated to the biggest crossover spectacle the superhero genre had ever seen with Avengers: Infinity War, which made a staggering $2 billion at the box office, ending on a cliffhanger that had viewers shocked and tearing their hair out waiting for what's coming up next.
The initial Infinity War trailer came out at the tail-end of November last year, so everyone was expecting the Avengers 4 trailer to drop at around the same time this year - considering the sequel is set to come out one year after the last. But it didn't show up, and the rumours started flying.
Various sites who claimed to have insider information promised that there would be a trailer on Monday, then Tuesday, then Wednesday, all the way through to today - and by this point, it was hard to believe it was actually going to come out.
Throughout all of this, we didn't even have a name for the upcoming superhero event, with a lot of people claiming it was going to be called Avengers: Forever, Avengers: Annihilation, or Avengers: Endgame.
In the meantime, we did get a new trailer for Captain Marvel earlier this week. That movie is set to be released before the fourth Avengers movie, but people were still hungry for more.
As it turned out, this latest rumour was actually spot-on, and the trailer has landed. Now not only do we know the title of the movie, but we've got a glimpse of exactly where are heroes have ended up after the shocking conclusion of Infinity War.
Check it out below:
Pretty intense, right?
Understandably, there's going to be a lot of mourning for the heroes to do considering half of the universe just got wiped out, including some of the most beloved heroes on the team (RIP T'Challa). There's also going to have to be one hell of a plan for them to undo everything that's happened and take down Thanos - but it looks like Cap and co have a plan in motion.
Tony Stark on the other hand? He's got a long way to go to get home and reunite with his fellow Avengers. Obviously, fans are already losing their minds:
And making the best memes to go with it...
In addition to this trailer drop, they also announced that the movie will be dropping a little bit earlier than initially expected. It was first said to be hitting cinemas in May 2019 - but now it's been confirmed that it'll be arriving on April 26th. On top of that intriguing teaser trailer, they also released a new poster to go with it:
It's been a long wait for the trailer, but now we've got an even longer wait to see exactly what happens in the endgame...
