There are few certainties in this wild world we inhabit, but one thing I can bet all my chips on is a Harry Potter marathon to cheer me up when things are looking bleak.

Sure, at this point, on my 135,625th rerun of the eight movies, it's more like a poorly attended script memory recall exercise between myself and whatever poor, hapless friends have agreed to join in the viewing. But that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. For me, at least.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, it's likely that recriminations and ill-tempered sniping might arise at one point or another, and when the baiting and years of resentment bubble to the surface, you're likely to want an escape route.

Enter, stage right, the Harry Potter Thanksgiving movie marathon.

At last, something everyone in the family can agree on.

After all, if you require a reminder than actually, your family is pretty good and you all get along fairly well most of the time, then the juxtaposition of Harry Potter's miserable existence at Number 4, Privet Drive with his highly-strung Aunt Petunia and blustering, intolerant Uncle Vernon with your own nuclear family is probably a favourable one.
