When you're performing anything on live TV, an embarrassing blooper can make or break you. Not only that, but the ubiquity of social media means that, when some showbiz personality makes a gaffe, you can guarantee that the footage of will invariably end up on social media not long after.
Indeed, this week Wendy Williams inadvertently went viral after footage emerged on Twitter which appeared to show her breaking wind on air. As you can see in the video below, the farting incident allegedly took place during the course of last Friday's episode of The Wendy Williams Show.
Have a look at the footage of Wendy's alleged gas:At one point during a segment about the week's hot topics, Wendy could clearly be seen shifting uncomfortably in her seat, and many thought that they heard a tell-tale "parrp" sound. Now Wendy has been so mortified by the alleged wind-breaking that she's had to respond to the accusations that she farted on air.
Per Too Fab, Williams stated in the latest episode of her show: "Let me tell you something right now, okay? I don’t lean over like this to release a fart, I lean over like this because it’s comfortable. If I sit [straight up] all the time, it’s heavy on my spine. I like to release my hips and lean. I’ve been doing this for 11 years on this show."
Here are some of the best Twitter reactions to alleged fart:She continued: "By the sound of that fart, I would have had to go change my costume, I would have left a mark in the seat. I wouldn’t even save the costume, I’d throw it away. It’d be soiled beyond soiled-tivity."
However, this isn't the first controversy that Williams has faced, coming one week after Williams was forced to issue an apology regarding Joaquin Phoenix's cleft lip.
