'Wheel of Fortune' contestant roasted for what viewers are calling the 'worst' answer in history

One Wheel of Fortune contestant will probably never hear the end of a bizarre answer he gave.

Everyone has embarrassing moments in their life where they say something silly, but luckily for most of us, it isn't broadcast on TV.

I've never been on a gameshow but I imagine with all the lights and cameras, it's easy to panic and not think things through.

For Will Jordan on Wheel of Fortune, this was the unfortunate reality.

During Monday night’s episode, Jordan, a retired police officer and service member from Connecticut, became the internet’s latest viral sensation for his unique guess on a nearly complete phrase.

The puzzle at hand displayed the letters: "_ _ _ E _OURSE_F A ROUN_ OF A_ _ _AUSE."

In what seemed to be a straightforward finish, Jordan instead surprised everyone by confidently guessing: “Treat yourself a round of sausage.”

In fairness, everyone should treat themselves to a round of sausage every now and then.

Despite the answer being hilarious, the audience almost seemed too stunned to laugh.

The next contestant, Kitina Thomas, jumped in and correctly solved the puzzle with the intended answer: “Give yourself a round of applause.”

Though it seems like Jordan's answer went down better, as host Ryan Seacrest said: "Will, I kind of like yours better. That sounds better than just clapping right now."

Later, Jordan took a lighthearted view of his memorable moment in an interview with the show’s social media correspondent Maggie Sajak, daughter of former host Pat Sajak. Reflecting on his slip-up, Jordan admitted that the spotlight had gotten the best of him.

“I tell you, when the lights are on, and you know, the stars and Ryan Seacrest, Vanna White… I just went blank,” Jordan said. “But, if your dad in retirement is watching the show, maybe cracks a beer and gets a laugh, it’ll be worth it.”

Since his appearance, Jordan has fully embraced the wave of sausage-themed jokes that followed, predicting that the teasing wouldn’t end on the set.

“I’m sure I’m gonna have sausages in my locker and police car when I get back, so we’ll try to have some fun with it,” he said.

And he was right, as the internet has reacted in true internet fashion.

One person wrote: "I saw this. One of the funniest things I have ever seen!"

A second added: "4D chess, obviously trying to get an endorsement deal with Big Sausage. Well played sir."

A third said: "Will is going to have a tough time living this down," while a fourth added: "This dude on Wheel of Fortune is the worst I’ve ever seen."

There appears to be two sides to this at the minute, as another viewer asked: "Is this the worst guess in wheel of fortune history?"

While someone else said: "One of the all-time best answers on tonight’s #WheelofFortune."

Personally, I'm on the side of best answer ever because everyone deserves a round of sausage every now and then.

According to NBC News, Jordan serves as a School Resource Officer with the Rocky Hill Police Department in Connecticut.

With the holiday season approaching, the department is turning his viral Wheel of Fortune moment into a force for good, encouraging donations to the Rocky Hill Human Services Food Bank.

Jordan finished the show in third place, winning $8,000.
