Harry Styles fans are comparing him to iconic Queen frontman Freddie Mercury after an explosive performance in London's Wembley Stadium.

During the gig, the 28-year-old 'Watermelon Sugar' singer paid tribute to Mercury by recreating his iconic crowd sing-along.

One of the most memorable moments from Queen's legendary 1985 Live Aid performance was when the charismatic lead singer invited the audience to join in with some vocal exercises.

Over 37 years later, Style's replicated the experience on the same stage, singing "ay-oh" at the crowd as they chanted back. Dressed in a mirrored vest and white jeans, the former-One Direction band member showcased his impressive vocal range and did his best Mercury impression as the ecstatic crowd cheered along.

The moment inspired many fans to draw more comparisons between Styles and Mercury. It wasn't long before they took to social media to point them out.

"Harry Styles giving off the same powerful vibe as Freddie Mercury is a beautiful sight to witness," one tweeted, while another wrote: "Harry styles is this generation's version of Freddie Mercury," and a third commented: "rip freddie mercury u would’ve loved harry styles."

Others simply shared side-by-side photos of the two in similar outfits and poses.

Meanwhile, for some fans, the resemblance between the two stars was more than uncanny. They went so far as to suggest that Styles was the reincarnation of Mercury, who passed away in 1991 after a battle with AIDS.

"I'm convinced Freddie Mercury has been reborn and the result is Harry Styles," one fan tweeted. Another had the same idea, writing: "You cant tell me harry styles wasn’t freddie mercury in his past life."

However, not everyone was so happy about the comparison. They made it very clear on social media that they didn't think Styles was in the same league as a rock legend like the Queen frontman.

Comparing the freddie mercury, the greatest rock vocalist [of all time] to harry styles takes serious and concerning delusion," one person tweeted, while another agreed: "Stop comparing freddie mercury to musty harry styles, they’re not comparable."
