Johnny Depp has been caught cracking jokes about his severed finger with fans.

On Thursday night (June 2) the Pirates of the Caribbean star was caught on camera chatting about his injury after performing alongside his friend Jeff Beck in the UK.

Depp's finger - which he claims his ex-wife Amber Heard severed with a liquor bottle during a violent argument in Australia - was a contentious topic during the former spouse's multi-million dollar defamation trial.

His jokes last week came just hours after jurors announced that they had sided with Depp in the defamation lawsuit, awarding him a total of $10.35 million in damages.

Photos from the evening show the Edward Scissorhands star stopping to take photos and sign autographs for fans outside the Sage concert hall in Gateshead. In one video, captured by Twitter user @tinyspookyghoul, he can be seen leaning down to talk to a child and pointing at their finger.

"You have five. I have four and seven eighths. Mad," Depp jokes.

The clip was shared to social media on Friday (June 3), along with a caption reading: "I can’t believe I’ve just met Johnny Depp. He was so genuinely lovely and signed for me, what a legend!" Since being posted, it has already racked up over 179,000 views.

During his trial, Depp spoke at length about an allegedly violent fight he had with Heard in 2015 when they were on a trip to Australia.

According to Depp, a "good chunk" of his finger was cut off when his then-wife threw a glass vodka bottle at him.

Heard dismissed this allegation, claiming she was not awake when the injury occurred, and implied that Depp had caused the injury himself. He in turn denied that he would ever mutilate his own hand because of his love for playing guitar, which he described as: "The only thing that was really good in my life aside from my children".

Meanwhile, Thursday's concert wasn't the first time Depp has taken to the stage since his trial against Heard concluded.

He's joined Beck for several performances on the UK leg of his tour, and it was revealed last week that the duo would be releasing an album together next month.
