Kelis has finally responded to rumors that she's dating Bill Murray

The 72-year-old Ghostbusters actor was rumored to have allegedly struck up an unlikely romance with the 43-year-old singer after being spotted at some of her more recent gigs.

According to The Sun, the whispers about the pair - who have a 30-year age gap - began after the father-of-six was seen watching the 'Bossy' singer perform at the Mighty Hoopla festival in Brockwell Park, South London recently.

And it was a backstage image at this concert that caused fans to go into meltdown.

A source also told The Sun: "They’ve met up in the States before which got people in the industry talking, and now are meeting up in London while they’re both here. They’ve clearly hit it off."

"Whatever it is that has brought them together, and however unlikely it seems, they are both single and are having fun despite the fairly big age gap," the source added.

The duo both also experienced recent bereavements, which is likely one of the reasons why it was easy for news outlets and fans to link the pair romantically.

The 'Trick Me' singer's husband Mike Mora passed away in 2022 after a long battle with stage four stomach cancer at the age of 37. She spoke about her heartbreak and how it has taught her to cherish time and celebrate people.

"It doesn't change the fact that I'm heartbroken. But it does change how I choose to approach it," the mom-of-three expressed, per Revolt. "It reminds you how short time is and how we don't have any control. I want to control what I can control - how I treat the people around me. I'm really big on celebrating people when they're here. I don't feel like it's as useful when they're gone."

Meanwhile, the Groundhog Day star's estranged wife Jennifer Butler also passed away back in 2021. The costume designer filed for divorce from the actor in 2008, but the pair are understood to have remained in touch before her death two years ago.

Though, despite having some things in common, Kelis appears to reveal that her and Murray aren't a new item. In fact, she took to Instagram to shut down the rumors.

The singer had posted a series of images of herself at the beach in Greece, where she was wearing a colorful bikini and jumping into the water.

In the comments section, however, one netizen wrote: "Ma'am would you care to address these Bill Murray allegations?!? Cuz damn! What he doing with all that?!? [...]"

Then, underneath the comment, Kelis replied with: "lol no babe , I wouldn't bother at all."

Now, although one could read Kelis' comment as "no" she doesn't wish to address the allegations, it certainly looks like Murray is not going to be a step-father to Kelis' three children.

The singer's late husband sadly passed away after a six-month battle with stage four stomach cancer in March, 2022, after first being diagnosed a year earlier. At the time, doctors had only given him 18 months to live.

As for Murray, he's currently in the UK filming a sequel to his last Ghostbusters film.
