Kodak Black shooting witness says rapper had been 'denied entry to Justin Bieber party'
An eyewitness who saw rapper Kodak Black and four others being shot in Los Angeles claims the rapper and his friends were targeted after being denied entry to Justin Bieber's star-studded party.
Per NBC News, the 24-year-old Florida rapper and three others were shot; two were taken by ambulance, and two self-transported to a hospital, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
Aside from the rapper, three others were shot, including two men ages 19 and 60. Police officials have said that all four are in a stable condition.
Paramedics took two of the victims to the hospital and police later found that two additional victims had taken themselves to local hospitals; all are listed as stable, police said in a statement.
Sydnie Beeman, 23, was standing outside the West Hollywood club with her mother and friends when shots were fired, injuring the rapper, his entourage, and her friend.
"There was like five of them and they walked to the back entrance to get in but the security said no one was going in and they had been told to lock the doors," she told The Sun.
"They were mad they couldn’t get in but everybody backed up and started to leave and go back to their cars and Drake left. Then one of the guys who was in Kodak’s entourage got jumped and was thrown on top of a red Ferrari."
"Kodak jumped in and started punching the guy who had jumped his friend and then a guy in a black hoodie pulled a gun and aimed it right at Kodak and just started shooting," she added.
It's not yet clear what sparked the fight outside the club, however, an LAPD spokesman said the victims were shot when they emerged from the club during the fight.
The LAPD said in a statement on Saturday they are searching for a black male suspect who fled south from the location.
KNBC reporter Robert Kovacik initially said the fight took place outside of an Italian restaurant called Nice Guy. The restaurant's owner John Terzian has since confirmed that Justin Bieber was hosting an after-party inside the restaurant on the night of the shooting.
According to footage of the shooting obtained by TMZ, Kodak Black - whose real name is Bill Kapri - was leaving the restaurant with an entourage that included rapper Gunna. In the footage, they paused to pose for photos with fans.
Surrounded by over a dozen paparazzi, a fistfight then took place before it was interrupted by approximately 10 gunshots. Bystanders were seen fleeing the scene soon after.
