Kylie Jenner has officially been dethroned!

The 25-year-old is no longer the most followed woman on Instagram after she was overtaken by Selena Gomez last night.

It's been a while since anyone had come close to overtaking the 25-year-old Jenner sister and her 380 million followers on the popular social media platform but 30-year-old Gomez - who previously held the title - has done it yet again.

As per Elle, last night at approximately 6:25 PM EST, the 'Lose You To Love Me' singer matched Jenner's follower statistics, but within a few extra hours, she surpassed it.

The outlet reported that Gomez officially led with 380,644,778 followers. Jenner, meanwhile, is close behind with 380,425,729 followers.

Now, this morning at approximately 4:55 AM EST, Gomez has hit the next milestone, with her follower count now reaching 381 million while Jenner seemingly strays behind her.

But it's still all to play for right now.

In the wake of the battle of the IG fans, it seems as though the two stars are also involved in an awkward misunderstanding online - which they have both been forced to address.

Gomez posted shots of her eyebrows stating that "she laminated her brows too much", and within "three hours", Jenner took to her Instagram Stories to post close-up shots of her own eyebrows before following it up with Hailey Baldwin's brows too.

Baldwin is famously married to Gomez's ex, Justin Bieber, and fans believe the two have had an ongoing rivalry for quite some time now.

After a video explaining the situation was posted to Twitter by Pop Base, fans took to the comments to conclude that it's due to the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star's "jealousy" over the Instagram follower takeover that led her to ignite the so-called feud in the first place.

"[She] just did it for attention since Selena is about to surpass Kylie’s followers on IG lol," wrote one user while another added that "We all know she was making fun of her. She is just jealous Selena passed her in followers!"

A third described the 25-year-old as a "mean girl" stating that it's "literally so obvious, theres no other excuse she could make for it, just own up to it at this point."

And this user alleged that "Selena is too busy being the most followed woman on Instagram to even care about this mess."

However, it seems like she did care as she, as well as Jenner, later took to TikTok to comment under a video about the alleged "shade" to slam people for "reaching."

"This is a reach," Jenner wrote before adding: "No shade towards Selena ever and I didn't see her eyebrow posts! U guys are making something out of nothing.

"This is silly," she concluded.

And Gomez also responded to the comment stating that she is a "fan of Kylie."

It all seems to be one big coincidence, but fans don't seem to be too impressed with the Jenner sister right now.

Beyond all this drama, at least Gomez has one thing she can celebrate!

When speaking to Vanity Fair about her social media activity, she said that she had to take a step back from Instagram, as well as other platforms, before settling on TikTok.

"People can call me ugly or stupid and I’m like, whatever. But these people get detailed," she told the outlet. "They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety... I couldn’t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time.

"The only thing I have on my phone is TikTok because I find it to be a little less hostile," she continued. "There are wonderful things about social media—connecting with fans, seeing how happy and excited they are and their stories. But usually that’s filtered through [for me now]. I created a system. Everything I do I send to my assistant who posts them.

"As far as comments, my team will put together a few things that are encouraging."
