Selena Gomez has clapped back at trolls who posted unwanted comments about her body on social media.

On Thursday (February 16), the 30-year-old 'Love You Like A Love Song' pop star sat down for a chat with her followers on TikTok where she candidly opened up about her medications and how it affects her weight.

Gomez explained to thousands of her viewers that her weight fluctuations because of lupus - a long-term, incurable condition that impacts the immune system - and the medication she takes for it, which causes her to "hold a lot of water weight".

The Only Murders in The Building actress added that by opening up with her struggles, she hopes it will "encourage anyone out there who feels any sort of shame for exactly what they’re going through, and no one knows the real story".

Gomez continued: "I just want people to know that you’re beautiful, and you’re wonderful. Yeah, we have days where maybe we feel like s***, but I would rather be healthy and take care of myself. My medications are important, and I believe that they’re what helps me."

The 'Lose You To Love Me' musician declared that she was "not a model," saying: "Never will be. And I think they’re awesome, mind you. I’m just definitely not that."

"I just wanted to tell you I love you guys, and thanks for supporting me and understanding. And if not, go away, because honestly, I don’t believe in shaming people for [their appearance] or anything," she concluded.

After footage of the livestream began circulating on social media, many users praised Gomez for prioritizing her health and slammed others for their mean comments.

One user wrote: "Stop body shaming, because we never knew what people going through behind it. There's some condition where people really have zero control on what happened to their body. Be kind. Selena, we love you, you're beautiful."

Another user shared: "My weight has fluctuated so much since I started having lupus symptoms like all of that is so normal for someone who’s dealing with an autoimmune disease and I wish people would leave her alone about it."

A third person commented: "Ppl just literally CANNOT shut up! Why does everyone think that bodies are not fluid things that literally change every day? Everyone needs an explanation for ppl losing or gaining weight and it’s exhausting."

A fourth user added: "Even if she had a control over it, she looks perfectly healthy, and let’s just not normalize body shaming at all."

The Wizards of Waverly Place alum gave fans a first-hand look into treating lupus and bipolar disorder in her acclaimed 2022 documentary My Mind & Me.

Also, her comments come after she addressed body-shamers who criticized her after she appeared at the Golden Globes earlier this year in a ravishing strapless dark purple Valentino gown.

A clip from the live stream was reshared on TikTok and shows the former Disney Channel actress sitting alongside her younger sister Gracie - who was her plus-one for the award ceremony.

Gomez openly explained to people watching that she has gained some weight after the holiday season - just like most of us do - and that there's nothing to be ashamed of.

"I'm a little bit big right now because I enjoyed myself during the holidays. Right?", she said, before turning to face her nine-year-old sister, who started nodding to which the singer then laughed.
