Lisa Marie Presley, the only child of Rock and Roll legend Elvis and the sole heir to his estate, has tragically passed away aged just 54.

The mom-of-four reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at her home in Calabasas, California, on Thursday (January 12) after being found unresponsive in her bedroom. Her former partner Danny Keough - who also lives at the property - discovered her and performed CPR, per BBC News.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles (LA) County's fire department revealed that paramedics were called around 10:40 AM to a report of a woman in full cardiac arrest. Around that time Lisa Marie's mother Priscilla made a statement via Twitter that her daughter had been rushed to hospital.

"My beloved daughter Lisa Marie was rushed to the hospital. She is now receiving the best care. Please keep her and our family in your prayers. We feel the prayers from around the world, and ask for privacy during this time," the 77-year-old stated.

However, mere hours later, she released another statement sadly announcing her daughter's passing. "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us," she said, via BBC News.

She continued: "She was the most passionate, strong, and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss."

Just days before her death, she had visited Graceland, the home once owned by her father in Memphis, Tennessee, to pay tribute to him on what would have been his 88th birthday on January 8.

Lisa Marie had previously followed in her father's footsteps, forging a music career. Her first album 2003's To Whom It May Concern, reached Gold certification with the Recording Industry Association of America. She had also been known for her high-profile marriages to Michael Jackson and Nicolas Cage.

Tributes from people across the globe have come pouring in for the late singer, including from Tom Hanks - who portrayed Elvis' longtime manager Col Tom Parker in the recent Elvis biopic. Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson posted a heartfelt tribute via her Instagram that read: "Our hearts are broken with the sudden and shocking passing of Lisa Marie Presley tonight [...] Lisa Marie was so honest and direct, vulnerable, in a state of anticipation about the movie. She spoke so eloquently about her father, what the movie meant to her, that it was a celebration of her dad."

"She had a sultry voice, a power and tenderness, that I have always loved. Our hearts and our prayers go out to Riley, Harper, Finley, Danny and Priscilla. A mother should never have to lose a child. Lisa Marie lost her precious son Benjamin, Priscilla loses her only daughter. It's too much," they added.

Actress Leah Remini also paid tribute, writing via Instagram: "I'm heartbroken over the passing of Lisa Marie Presley. Lisa did not have an easy life, as some might think. May she be at peace, resting with her son and father now. Her mom Priscilla and her three daughters, Riley, Finley, and Harper, are in my prayers."
