Prince Harry and Meghan Markle found themselves in hot water as they have been branded as a "couple of frauds" by Megyn Kelly.

Last weekend, the couple were in the UK  for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. It was their first public engagement in the UK since moving to the US back in 2020.

However, after 37-year-old Harry and 40-year-old Markle reportedly flew back to the states in a private jet, they drew some ire from some of their biggest critics.

American broadcaster Megyn Kelly appeared on Dan Wootton’s GB News show and criticized the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for being "hypocritical" after they advised people to do their part in protecting the environment.

Known for her outspoken views, Kelly said: "Their environmentalism is a fraud, their perpetual victimhood is a fraud, their supposed need for privacy is a fraud and like any frauds, if you spend enough time watching them they expose themselves over time."

Watch the clip below:

The broadcaster said to Wootton that she has researched comments the couple has made in the past about the environment and said the launch of their 2019 eco-friendly tourism initiative "could be the worst".

Kelly then read out an extract from The Suits alum's blog that was published in 2016, which read: "It’s important that we never forget the wellbeing of our good old mama earth."

She then blasted at the couple, saying: "What did mama earth think about your carbon footprint on your 13 passenger jet that had its own separate stateroom on the way home?"

She continued: "This is the same couple that made you and your viewers pay $50,000 for an environmental boiler when they moved into Frogmore Cottage, which the British taxpayers paid for and they made you the British people pay for their vegan paints for their cottage because they think you should pay for them to live in an environmental way.

"While they then sculk off in their private jet creating a bigger carbon footprint than the average British citizen can hope to create in one's life."

Kelly then called out a previous claim made by the Prince, saying: "[Harry] has said in the past, ‘Oh we offset it all,’ this is what they all say all these environmental frauds."

"What that basically means is I paid some company enough money to plant enough trees to cover my carbon footprint. Most environmental groups will tell you that the whole thing is a bunch of nonsense."

Kelly said that the Prince and Markle will "never come to terms" with why the public "turned against them" in the UK and US, and added that people "can't stand" them because "they’re a couple of frauds".

Harry and Meghan stepped back from their senior royal duties in 2021. The couple now lives in California with their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, 3, and daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, 1.
