Michael Strahan's daughter has celebrated a new milestone in her fight against brain cancer as she rang the bell to signify her final radiation treatment.
As previously reported, 19-year-old Isabella Strahan opened up about her battle with brain cancer, revealing that she recently underwent emergency surgery to address a tumor discovered at the back of her brain.
Isabella recently disclosed the shocking news of her diagnosis with medulloblastoma, a malignant tumor at the base of the skull.
Isabella rings a bell after her final radiation treatment:"I'm feeling good. Not too bad," Isabella shared, expressing her readiness to begin the first round of chemotherapy at Duke Children's Hospital & Health Center in North Carolina. "That's my next step. I'm ready for it to start and be one day closer to being over."
Despite the difficulties, Isabella maintained a positive outlook, stating: "I'm very excited for this whole process to wrap. But you just have to keep living every day, I think, through the whole thing."
Isabella went on to describe the symptoms she experienced during her freshman year at the University of Southern California, including headaches, nausea, and difficulty walking straight. Initially attributing it to vertigo, her condition worsened, leading to a critical point where she was vomiting blood.
Following a thorough checkup, medical professionals discovered a rapidly growing 4-centimeter tumor at the back of Isabella's head, prompting immediate action. Michael recalled the shock of the diagnosis, saying: "It didn’t feel real. I don't really remember much. I just remember trying to figure out how to get to [Los Angeles] ASAP."
Isabella has been recording the last few weeks on her YouTube vlog, and she has shared an emotional look at the day that marked the end of a challenging six-week period.
"I'm very excited to finally be done," Isabella joyfully exclaimed in her vlog. "It's been a long six weeks, and I'm very happy to finally heal my head after all of this because the side effects and everything get to you."
The joyous occasion, however, was accompanied by tears as Isabella emotionally rang the bell to symbolize the completion of her final radiation treatment. "So excited to ring that bell… Never thought I'd be ringing the bell," she expressed, tears streaming down her cheeks.
Surrounded by her family, including her father, and her twin sister, Sophia, Isabella was showered with flowers and balloons to commemorate the special occasion at the New York Proton Center where she underwent radiation treatment.
Following the successful completion of her treatment, Isabella, beaming with smiles, enjoyed a celebratory meal of Thai food with her family, savoring a moment of triumph.
With a brief respite before beginning chemotherapy in February, Isabella plans to enjoy some sense of normalcy with her family.
We continue to wish her all the best in her recovery journey.
