Music fans have taken to social media to share their reactions to Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion performing their summer hit 'WAP' at the Grammys last night.

Taking to the stage in front of the socially-distanced crowd at the 63rd Grammy award ceremony in Los Angels, Cardi B donned a retro-futuristic pink metal suit and was joined by Megan as they showcased their most provocative dance moves for their first televised performance of the hit.

Despite the censored lyrics, the two performers could be seen writhing, twerking, and grinding together on a huge bed, while a dazzling display of lights blasted the audience from behind them.

On social media, a number of viewers were clearly very impressed by the performance, and have taken to Twitter to share their feelings on the song and dance routine...

For instance, one fan wrote: "Love it. So iconic. I love she incorporated Brazilian Funk. Cardi listens to her fans. [sic]"

Another person stated: "I am all for p***sing off the puritans. Good work, ladies! Bravo! [sic]"

Someone else shared an image macro of Post Malone reacting with obvious enthusiasm to the performance, clapping and smiling cheerfully.

Someone else shared a meme parodying Harry Styles' reaction to the performance, photoshopping in a speech bubble reading, "Mum, can you pick me up? i'm scared," and captioned the post; "harry during meghan the stallion and cardi b‘s wap performance [sic]"

Another fan wrote: "I am hoping that @iamcardib and @theestallion one day do a live performance of WAP without having to censor lyrics. That song is fire. [sic]"

Responding to some of her critics, one of Cardi's fans wrote: "Y’all mad @iamcardib's performance was so provocative at the #GrammyAwards but the song is called #WAP for a reason ... what did yall expect her to do, the electric slide?? [sic]"

Finally, someone else wrote simply: "@iamcardib i'm in love with your show. [sic]"

Following her performance, Cardi B took to Twitter to write to her fans: "I hope you guys enjoyed The UP/WAP performance. Boyyy I was tired but I didn’t want to make my fans wait so long for a http://performance.Love you guys. Congrats on all the winners tonight. [sic]"

The New York Post reports that 'WAP' wasn't nominated for a Grammy this year, but that this was actually a tactical publicity decision made by Cardi and her label Atlantic Records, to ensure that it can be submitted for the consideration of the judge's panel next year as part of her upcoming album.
