Jessie J has posted a heartbreaking update on her health in a new Instagram post.
The 33-year-old musician took to her Instagram stories on Thursday, August 12, to speak about her life living with Ménière’s disease - a rare illness that can cause vertigo, tinnitus, and hearing loss.
Posting a video of herself performing, she wrote in a caption addressed to her 9.9 million followers that her health problems are now having an effect on her singing ability.
She wrote: "Yesterday I tried to sing a song I can usually sing [with] ease, and I couldn’t. The issue I’m having isn’t my voice but is [affecting] my voice.
And well… I sobbed. For hours. I let myself feel the broken part of me that sometimes I know I ignore when I shouldn’t. Like fell the floor TV show type s**t.
"6 months in and I still cannot get through a full day without pain in my mid-neck/throat. Some days are so much better than others.
"The worst part is that it's not my vocal cords. They are healthy and in there with their hands up like. Not us J, we got you. It’s something around them. Spine, thyroid, allergy. Who knows. The tests continue."
She added: "I guess I'm sharing this because people are always saying to me: 'how do you stay so positive all the time' and [the] truth is I don't.
"I definitely don’t unpack and live in how I felt yesterday. But I don’t take pride in always pretending I’m ok. It’s not healthy."
Her post clearly resonated with her fans, accruing more than 3,100 comments from her many supporters as of the time of writing.

For instance, one person stated: "Comment are so inspiring. You have a big family Jess. Love you forever."

Another person added: "Thinking of you and sending love i hope you find out what's going on soon."

Then this commenter stated: "Watched this song SO many times on YouTube. Sending love."

And this commenter added: "Thank you for this, Jessie. I needed it especially today after suffering a mental breakdown and having to take time off for myself for a couple weeks because these last 18 months have been BRUTAL. It's okay not to be okay."

Finally, someone else stated: "Sending you love and healing energy."
The Independent reports that Jessie J was first diagnosed with Ménière’s disease back in 2020, when a sudden attack of the illness hospitalized her after she was left deaf in one ear and unable to walk as a result of her symptoms.
