Joni Mitchell has shown solidarity with fellow music legend Neil Young as she had requested that Spotify remove her music catalog.

As reported by ABC News, Spotify granted Young's request earlier this week after the iconic singer-songwriter took issue with his songs being available on the same platform as Joe Rogan's podcast.

In a message aimed at Spotify, the 76-year-old 'Heart of Gold' singer reportedly told the streaming giants: "They can have [Joe] Rogan or Young. Not both."

Joe Rogan has come under fire recently over his discussions regarding the ongoing pandemic on his podcast.

Writing on his official website, Young wrote: "I realized I could not continue to support Spotify's life threatening misinformation to the music loving public."

The singer's statement adds: "Lies being sold for money."

Spotify has since granted Young's request, adding that the removal can be reversed if Young changes his mind.

Now, legendary singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell has joined Young in solidarity, requesting that her music also be removed from the streaming platform.

"I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify," 78-year-old Mitchell has said in a statement, titled "I Stand With Neil Young!"

Mitchell added: "Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives. I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue."

Unlike Young, the 'Both Sides Now' singer did not specifically name Rogan in her request, but did include a link to an open letter signed by a group of scientists and medical professionals, which criticized Spotify for continuing to host Rogan's podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

The open letter states: "We are a coalition of scientists, medical professionals, professors, and science communicators spanning a wide range of fields such as microbiology, immunology, epidemiology, and neuroscience and we are calling on Spotify to take action against the mass-misinformation events which continue to occur on its platform.

With an estimated 11 million listeners per episode, [The Joe Rogan Experience] is the world’s largest podcast and has tremendous influence.

"Though Spotify has a responsibility to mitigate the spread of misinformation on its platform, the company presently has no misinformation policy."
