Sunday night saw the 2019 Academy Awards roll into town, with its usual share of thrills, spills, controversies and apparent snubs.

Everyone had their own opinion on who should take home the best picture award - not least Spike Lee, who reportedly reacted with fury after Green Book was announced - though one very popular winner was Olivia Colman, whose reaction of genuine shock and amazement at winning best actress captured the imaginations of everyone who watched the ceremony.

However, if we're being totally honest, there was really only one thing that everyone was talking about during and after the event, and that was Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's intimate performance of Shallow from A Star Is Born.

Putting aside to one second that the pair are quite clearly 'acting' - that this *performance* took place at the *Oscars* is an irony surely not lost on the few level headed individuals that pointed out this on Twitter - many thousands of people went into immediate and total meltdown due to the pair's steamy onstage chemistry.

Everyone's collective attention was then drawn to Bradley Cooper's girlfriend. How would she react - shock horror - to the quite excellent display of acting that was taking place in front of her? Well, her answer, as it turns out, was to do what all enthusiastic audiences do, and give the pair a standing ovation.

Scandal? Not so much.

Anyway, now that the dust has settled on another year of awards being given out to tearful movie stars, it's high time to dissect and reflect on the event, and Lady Gaga is doing exactly that, as she posted a moving tribute to her co-star Bradley Cooper.

"Nothing could be more special than sharing this moment at the Oscars with a true friend and artistic genius," wrote Gaga, alongside a gorgeous picture of the pair sat at the piano.

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has revealed that she doesn't actually remember the second half of her Oscars speech, telling Good Morning America;

"It's a dream sequence and all that you can hope for is that you say something that will reach people, that they will feel inspired, because when you win, it's not about us, it's about what we can give to the world."

While her moving tribute to her friend Bradley Cooper was a beautiful touch to put the gloss on an excellent night for the singer, fans hoping that the pair will get together anytime soon are surely likely to be left disappointed. Cooper has been with his girlfriend, the supermodel Irina Shayk, since the Spring/Summer of 2015, and thanked her in his recent BAFTA acceptance speech, saying;

"Most of all I have to thank Irina, for putting up with me for all the music I was trying to make in our basement for a year.

"Thank you very much. Thank you."

Congratulations to both Cooper and Gaga on their excellent Oscars performance.
