The wife of rapper T.I. has responded to a comment asking after his daughter, after he controversially claimed he took her to the doctor to check her hymen was intact.

The controversy first began when T.I. (aka Clifford Joseph Harris Jr) appeared on the Ladies Like Us podcast, to talk about whether he and his partner had provided his daughter Deyjah with any sex education. Talking to hosts Nazanin and Nadia, many listeners found the musician's comments about his 18-year-old daughter Deyjah's virginity to be offensive.

This week, his wife, Tameka 'Tiny’ Harris, uploaded a picture of herself to Instagram alongside the rapper. She captioned the post: "Mi amor por siempre" (which means "My love forever" in Spanish).

She was immediately inundated with comments about Deyjah's well-being from Instagram users, and when one person wrote: "Is Deyjah okay? We care…" Tiny then replied with a series of eye-roll emojis.

In the interview in question, T.I. stated: "I think that most kids in hindsight, looking back, they always thank their parents for not allowing them to damage themselves as much as they could have."

He continued: "Deyjah’s 18. [She's] just graduated high school now and she’s attending her first year of college, figuring it out for herself. And yes, not only have we had the conversation, we have yearly trips to the gynecologist to check her hymen."

"This is what we do. Right after [her 16th] birthday, we celebrate. Usually, like the day after the party, she’s enjoying her gifts. I put a sticky note on the door: 'Gyno. Tomorrow. 9:30.'"

He continued: "‘So we’ll go and sit down and the doctor will come and talk and the doctor’s maintaining a high level of professionalism. He’s like, You know sir, I have to, in order to share information.' I’m like: 'Deyjah they want you to sign this so we can share information. Is there anything you wouldn’t want me to know? Oh, ok. See doc, no problem.' [sic]"

"And so then they come and say, 'Well I just want you to know that there are other ways besides sex that the hymen can be broken, like bike riding, athletics, horseback riding and just other forms of athletic physical activity. I say, 'Look doc, she don’t ride no horses, she don’t ride no bike, she don’t play no sports. Just check the hymen please and give me back my results expeditiously.' [sic]"

In response to Tameka's 'eyerolls', many Instagram users speculated on what messaged she was attempting to send:

But it's not just social media users who have been outraged by the scandal. A number of other celebrities have also come forward to criticize T.I. for his perceived facetiousness.
