British actor Julian Sands is missing in California after disappearing while hiking, authorities confirmed.
Sands, 65, who is known for roles in Ocean's Thirteen, Arachnophobia and A Room With A View, had been hiking in the Mount Baldy area when he was last seen on Friday, January 13.
San Bernardino County Sheriff's Office has been searching the area around the popular Baldy Bowl trail, which is 4.5 miles long and ascends 3,900 feet to the highest summit in the San Gabriel Mountains.
The search had to be suspended over the weekend due to the threat of an avalanche, with authorities continuing to use drones to try and locate the missing star.
In a statement, the San Bernardino County Sherriff's Office said: "Because of avalanche risks and trail conditions, the ground crews were pulled off the mountain on Saturday evening.
"However, we continue to search by helicopter and drones when weather permits. We will schedule another ground search when the weather improves, and it is safe for our ground crews."
According to reports from the Independent, Sands' three adult children - son Henry from his previous marriage to journalist Sarah Harvey and daughters Imogen and Natalya with his wife Evgenia Citkowitz - have also joined the ground search to locate their father.
California has been hit with a series of winter storms, including mudslides in nearby Montecito, as well as flooding and even snowfall.
The Mount Baldy area alone has seen 14 search and rescue missions in the past month, with two hikers dying on the mountain.
Crystal Paula Gonzales-Landas was one of the fatalities, being found dead on January 8 after falling an estimated 500 to 700 feet down a steep and icy hillside at Baldy Bowl.
Sands, who was born in Britain now lives in North Hollywood, and is believed to have disappeared in the same area after last having contact with his family on Friday.
The actor, who was also a dedicated mountaineer, starred in over 150 movies and television shows during his glittering career.
Director Elliot Blake tweeted: "Wow. Julian Sands was in the first movie I ever worked on, and he was really nice to me and the other production assistants. I hope he’s found soon and that he’s safe."
Sands' Sword of Xanten co-star Samuel West added: "Please, please let Julian Sands be OK. A friend and an inspiration. Awful news."
Actor Melanie Kinnaman added: "Our friend Julian Sands has been missing from a hiking trip in the mountains of Southern California for nearly one week... Please send prayers for his safe return."
