People are calling for Donald Trump's cameo in Home Alone 2 to be removed after the soon-to-be-former president was permanently banned from Twitter.

In the classic 1992 holiday movie, Trump, now 74, appears to give Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) directions on how to get to the hotel lobby after he accidentally flies to New York without his family.

Twitter users came up with various suggestions about who could replace the president in the classic Christmas film including Christopher Plummer and Danny Devito.

Now, in case you didn't already know, Plummer replaced Kevin Spacey in J Paul Getty in Ridley Scott's All the Money in the World after he was accused of sexual assault, as per the Hollywood Reporter.

One Twitter user suggested: "Can we edit Donald Trump out of Home Alone 2? That would make the classic even better."

A second Twitter user agreed, writing: "First Twitter, Home Alone 2 is next! Can someone call Christopher Plummer and see if he can replace him?"

A third added: "Has anyone thought of editing Home Alone 2 to remove Donald Trump? It sounds like something that's probably been done and I want to see it."

Meanwhile, a fourth suggested: "Replace Donald Trump in Home Alone 2 with Danny Devito."

This comes after President Trump's personal Twitter account (@realDonaldTrump) was permanently banned from the social media website on Wednesday (January 6) after the Capitol was stormed by his supporters.

The official Twitter Safety account wrote: "After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence.

"In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action.

"Our public interest framework exists to enable the public to hear from elected officials and world leaders directly. It is built on a principle that the people have a right to hold power to account in the open.

"However, we made it clear going back years that these accounts are not above our rules and cannot use Twitter to incite violence. We will continue to be transparent around our policies and their enforcement."
