The Menu has left viewers in awe - and slightly confused - as the gory horror is being praised as the "best movie" people have ever seen.

Spoilers ahead for anyone that is yet to watch the movie!

The Menu centers around an exclusive restaurant on a private island that only seats 12 people per evening - and from the get-go, things seem to be awry.

Young couple Margot (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Tyler (Nicholas Hoult) appear to be constantly at odds with each other which sets off an unnerving tone before they've even reached the island.

When there, they meet the workers of the restaurant who operate in a robotic fashion, before being introduced to head chef Slowik (Ralph Fiennes).

World-renowned for his creative menus, the chef takes his guests through a menu that gradually grows more chaotic (and gory) as the evening goes on.

The restaurant guests include a young couple, a pair of food critics, an actor who is past his glory days, a couple of the restaurant's regulars, and a trio of wealthy young businessmen.

Without giving too much away, let us just say the movie is full of twists and turns as viewers find out more about the diners and the staff - some of whom do not make it out alive - and it's seemingly impossible to predict what will happen next.

The Menu has been met with widespread praise with Taylor-Joy and Fiennes picking up Golden Globe nominations for best actress and actor in a musical or comedy.

It hasn't just been recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as viewers have taken to social media to give their opinions on the thriller, and the reaction seems incredibly positive.

One Twitter user said: "The Menu is the best film I’ve watched in a long while. Original, well-acted, weird, surprisingly moving. Blends horror & drama & comedy beautifully. Uses a single space enormously well. And keeps surprising us all the way to its last shot. Would make my top ten of 2022 for sure!"

Another person commented: "The Menu was one of the best new movies I’ve seen in the last decade. It’s not often that a movie has such a capacity to both shock me and make me laugh, as well as make a broad statement about obsessively refining one’s craft."

A third person said: "If you are searching for a fun movie to watch, The Menu is the best film I have seen in quite a long time!", and a fourth added: "The Menu is the best movie of the decade. They can stop making movies for the next 10 years and just save themselves the effort of trying to top it."

There we have it - the thriller has ticked all the boxes and currently has a score of 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
