Rebel Wilson has found herself being mom-shamed for the way she holds her baby, with some of the comments questioning the star's ability to be a mother.
Being a new parent can be tough, especially when it's your first time and every experience can feel a little daunting as nothing can truly prepare you for parenthood.
One thing that is sure to make it harder is having the eyes of the world watching your every move as you navigate life as a new parent, with many celebrities experiencing this pressure.
Wilson, 43, is no different after she welcomed her daughter, Royce Lillian, on November 7 via surrogate with her fiancée Ramona Agruma.
When the Pitch Perfect actress excitedly announced the birth of her daughter, she added to the lengthy statement on Instagram: "I am ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly…much respect to all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club."
Wilson has since shared an image of her family to her Instagram stories where she is holding Royce as they enjoy a vacation together - though it would seem that some are unhappy with how the child is being held.
Covering her daughter's face with an illustration of the sun, the 43-year-old beams as she holds her daughter with a hand under each armpit, which doesn't necessarily seem all that bad.
Though after the image was shared by the Daily Mail, many flocked to the comments to scold the actress and mom-shame her.
One critic said: "No matter who she is, that is pretty friggin awkward way to hold your baby like ewwww this baby."
"OMG look at the way she's holding her....she has no idea," another person commented, with a third adding: "Look at how she's holding that kid. Does she hate her daughter?"
Some referred to the family as "dysfunctional" while others simply questioned: "Why is she holding her like that?"
Even with the internet being a place where people can share their comments freely, it seems harsh to question the actress' ability to be a mother based on one photo.
There were some defending her in the comments, with one person giving a lengthy response: "So many people being judgemental. The baby is 4 months old. As a new parent to a 10 month old, having a baby is a completely new experience and we all make mistakes in what we do but to publicly shame Rebel for the way she's holding her daughter is shameful."
They continued: "She's not hurting her, she's not [dangling] her by a foot, she's holding her securely and maybe she was just facing her baby out quickly for the photo. Grow up you self righteous starfish holes. Get a grip of your own lives before passing judgement on a proud new parent!"
Others commented saying that the baby was being held securely and that Wilson was simply showing her off to the camera. Many also praised the Bridesmaids star for hiding her child's identity.
With people being intent on being cruel on social media, it is understandable that Wilson wants to keep Royce's identity hidden.
