Twenty-five years after The Ren & Stimpy Show ended its runs on Nickelodeon and Spike TV, the classic show will be rebooted on Comedy Central.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the channel will "reimagine" the cartoon for a new generation.
This comes after ViacomCBS announced that it will be rebooting a number of animated comedies from the 1990s and early 2000s, with the company also rebooting Beavis & Butt-Head and Clone High and the Daria spinoff series, Jodie.
Both Beavis & Butt-Head and Clone High will also debut on Comedy Central.
Cast your mind back to some of Ren & Stimpy's most iconic insults:"I want to thank our partners at Nick Animation as we reimagine these iconic characters with a new creative team," Nina L. Diaz, President of Content and Chief Creative Officer for ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group said.
"We are excited to reinvent this iconic franchise with a new creative team and our partners at the Nickelodeon Animation Studio," ViacomCBS Entertainment & Youth Group president Chris McCarthy said. "Ren & Stimpy joins our rapidly expanding roster of adult animation including South Park, Beavis and Butt-Head and Clone High as we continue to reimagine our treasure chest of beloved IP for new generations."
The series was created by John Kricfalusi and it debuted alongside another equally loved Nicktoons Doug and Rugrats.
In case your memory needs refreshing, Ren & Stimpy followed the adventures of an emotionally unstable Chihuahua called Ren and a good-natured but dimwitted cat called Stimpy.
While the series was popular after its 1991 release, Comicbook.com reports that its subversive and adult themes did attract criticism.
There was a spin-off to the show, the Ren & Stimpy Adult Party Cartoon, however, only three episodes of it ever aired.
It is not known when the reboot is expected to hit screens or how many episodes long it will be, but one thing's for sure, news of the reboot will delight a lot of people!
