Ryan Reynolds has hilariously responded to Hugh Jackman's viral video where he begged the Academy not to give Ryan Reynolds a nomination.
The pair have a 'feud' that seems to have been going on forever, where they can work together so well but also want to destroy each other's career.
The bickering began back in 2009 on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where Reynolds played Deadpool but it was somewhat different (dare we say worse) than the character we love today.
A couple of years back, Jackman opened up to the Daily Beast about the feud and revealed how it all began: "I met [Reynolds] back on [X-Men Origins:] Wolverine, and I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett [Johansson], and Scarlett had just married Ryan.
"So when he came on set I was like, 'Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I'm watching,' and we started ribbing each other that way, and then it all escalated with the Deadpool thing and him calling me out, and trying to manipulate me through social media to do what he wanted."
Now, over a decade later, the pair are still at each other like an old married couple who clearly would be lost without the other, but can't let those feelings be known.
Jackman hilariously posted a video to Twitter urging the Academy not to "validate" Reynolds with a nomination for the song 'Good Afternoon' in the Christmas movie Spirited.
"Ryan Reynolds getting a nomination in the Best Song category would make the next year of my life insufferable. I have to spend a year with him shooting Wolverine and Deadpool. Trust me, it would be impossible. It would be a problem," Jackman said.
He signed off by saying that he loved the song and the movie and all those that were involved in creating it, he just clearly doesn't want the earache for the next year of his life.
Well, Reynolds has responded to Jackman in typical Reynolds fashion... appearing sincere and trying to claim the moral high ground despite wanting to win just to rub it in the Australian actor's face.
"Last week Hugh Jackman lovingly asked the Academy to not vote for our song 'Good Afternoon' in the best song category and I'm not going to stoop to that level," Reynolds said.
"I'm going to rise to the occasion and rise above it all. I'm going to say right now, that I loved Hugh's performance in The Son. There's zero sarcasm here, no wink wink nudge nudge."
Reynolds continued: "But Hugh's performance as the Son struggling with his relationship with his dad and his father, it's literally one of the best of his entire career and his career is very impressive already. He's already been nominated for a Golden Globe so I humbly submit Hugh for your consideration. Okay."
It all seems sincere, right? That is until Reynolds signs off and lowers the camera and he can be heard saying: "Wolverine and Deadpool... who is he kidding? Not in your life chappie," referencing a comment made by Jackman about their upcoming film together where they both fight to be the title character.
So it seems as if the feud lives on...
