Hugh Jackman has hilariously continued his joke feud with Ryan Reynolds by urging the Academy to not validate the Deadpool actor with an Oscar nomination.

The Australian actor has had a years-long fake rivalry with Reynolds, which began on the set of 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

In 2020, Jackman, 53, opened up about this "feud" to The Daily Beast, telling the publication that he had told Reynolds to be good to his then-wife Scarlett Johansson.

"I met [Ryan Reynolds] back on [X-Men Origins:] Wolverine, and I used to ream him because I was very close friends with Scarlett [Johansson], and Scarlett had just married Ryan, so when he came on set I was like, 'Hey, you better be on your best behavior here, pal, because I'm watching,' and we started ribbing each other that way, and then it all escalated with the Deadpool thing and him calling me out, and trying to manipulate me through social media to do what he wanted," the Logan star said.

Now, with 46-year-old Reynolds being nominated for an Oscar for his song 'Good Afternoon' from his new Christmas movie Spirited, the pair's humorous beef has seemingly been reignited.

Jackman posted a video complaining about Reynolds' nomination ahead of the March awards ceremony. "Hey everybody, it's 2023 and I really really wanted to send out a positive message at the beginning of the year, but recent events have made that impossible," he began.

"Dont get me wrong, I loved Spirited. It's a great movie... I love Will [Ferrell], I love Octavia [Spencer] ... the song 'Good Afternoon', I laughed the entire way through, it is absolutely brilliant. However, I just heard the Academy have short-listed 'Good Afternoon,'" Jackman added.

"Now, Ryan Reynolds getting a nomination in the Best Song category would make the next year of my life insufferable. I have to spend a year with him shooting Wolverine and Deadpool. Trust me, it would be impossible. It would be a problem. So, just to recap, love Spirited, love Will, love Octavia, love the song 'Good Afternoon,' love Benj and Justin.

"But please, please, from the bottom of my heart - do not validate Ryan Reynolds in this way. Please," the video concludes.

Despite appearing in numerous movies, Jackman himself is yet to receive an Oscar nomination, however he did get a Grammy nomination in 2019 for his work on The Greatest Showman.
