Salt Bae has come under fire from his followers after he revealed that one group of four diners at his Dubai restaurant had spent a staggering $109,000 in one sitting.

The celebrity chef, whose real name is Nusret Gökçe, found fame in 2017 after videos went viral of the theatrical way he would cut meat, and his signature move of letting salt cascade down his hairy forearm into the food, earning him the nickname of 'Salt Bae'.

He capitalized on his viral fame to launch a chain of restaurants with Nusr-Et Steakhouse restaurants opening up in London, Dubai, Las Vegas, and Ankara.

He is well-known for his extravagantly-priced gold tomahawk steak which would cost patrons thousands, so it should come as no surprise that diners are dropping serious money at his restaurants.

Salt Bae took to Instagram to share a recent receipt from one group that had dropped almost $109,000 in just four hours at his establishment - and his followers were left pretty angry about it.

See the post below:

He captioned the post: "Money comes money goes", as his followers were able to see exactly how the absurd bill was achieved.

The food, which included golden steak as well as golden baklava and beef carpaccio, came to a grand total of $4,500 but it was the alcohol that really ramped up the bill for the four big spenders.

They managed to spend over $79,000 on alcoholic drinks, including pornstar martinis and Chateau Petrus 2009 and 2011 vintage wines.

The cost of their soft drinks was also pretty steep, as six bottles of water set them back a whopping $82.

Also on the bill was $163 for "Saltbae Salt", which we hope means the man himself sprinkled the salt on their steaks for that particular charge.

Personally, I'd rather not pay for someone's arm hair to potentially end up in my dinner, but each to their own.

And it looks like the servers also did pretty well from the table as the tip for their service was listed at a massive $24,500 - not bad for four hours of work!

Understandably, given there is a serious cost of living crisis affecting most of the world, many people were pretty annoyed at seeing the "obscene" amounts people are dropping on a single meal at Salt Bae's restaurants.

They took to the comments to write: "That embarrassing that anyone would spend $100,000+ ON F**KING FOOD," and: "Most overrated and overpriced restaurant."

Others added: "Imagine being this wealthy and blowing it on food that isn’t worth it…", and: "Shameful as millions of people suffer from hunger."

One simply wrote: "obscene and sad," while another commented: "That would fed at least 100,000 children in hunger around the world! How embarrassing!"

Someone joked: "I bet the food wasn’t even that good," while another posted: "Braindead consumerism at its finest," and one added: "That's a lifetime worth of food for families. This is not right!"

Salt Bae has not yet responded publicly to the comments on the massive bill.
