Seth Rogen has revealed the reason why he has smoked marijuana "all day every day" since he was 20 years old.
The 41-year-old Hollywood star is not only well known for his acting, writing, stand-up comedy, and producing, but also for his profound love for cannabis.
In 2019, Rogen started a company called Houseplant with investors Evan Goldberg and Mikey Mohr, which distributes the product through retailers in California and sells custom-made home goods accessories.
In a recent interview on Steven Bartlett's The Diary of a CEO podcast, the Superbad star candidly discussed a previous comment he made saying that he would "find life really hard without marijuana".
When the 31-year-old interviewer read his remarks back to him, the This Is the End actor responded: "For sure. I smoke weed all day - so I imagine it would be worse if I didn’t."
Bartlett then asked him if he smoked before the interview, and is intending to smoke after, to which Rogen revealed: "Yeah. I smoke weed all day every single day since I was 20 years old, maybe. And I’ve been very productive in that time."
Watch the interview below (from the 43:05 mark):Elaborating on his marijuana use, he continued: "I mean, I equate it [smoking weed] to shoes or glasses. Are shoes like a crutch we use? Or are they things we have culturally decided to make our lives easier and better? That is exactly how weed is to me."
"Could I not wear shoes? Probably. Could I not smoke weed? Probably. Would I much rather just smoke weed all day? Yes," he explained. "That is how I view it. It only makes my journey through this life more comfortable, more palatable, easier to process, easier to manifest the things that I want to do."
The Neighbors star stated that not smoking cannabis "all day" would be the same as him trying to do things "without shoes on or without my glasses on or without a jacket on".
The interviewer asked Rogen what he thinks his life would be without smoking and he replied that he "probably" wouldn't own Houseplant or have made the film Pineapple Express.
"I maybe wouldn't have conceived a lot of things I’ve conceived over the years," adding, "The environment it has created amongst me and my collaborators has been very additive, for sure, to my creative output."
In 2022, Rogen did an interview with The Guardian about his weed company and spoke about his dream for weed to be legalized in America.
"I hope that weed beverages are sold at bars and restaurants. I hope that weed is federally legal. I hope that people understand that there’s no reason that it shouldn’t be," he shared.
"And, I hope that slowly people understand that the things they’ve been told about it are not true and that most people, if not everyone, can in some way incorporate weed into their lives that would be positive," he continued.
"Be it for sleep or relaxation or CBD for muscle pain and things like that. It has anti-inflammatory effects, I think it’s something that has an enormous amount of potential to help a huge amount of people, and I hope that it has the opportunity to do that," Rogen concluded.
