On Friday night, in front of 72,000 fans at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas - as well as an estimated 120 million watching on Netflix - Mike Tyson attempted to turn back the clock as he stepped into the ring for his first professional boxing match in 19 years.

At the age of 58 and going against an opponent 31 years younger than him, it was always going to be an uphill climb for Tyson.

However, for many of his fans, there was hope. After all... this is "Iron" Mike Tyson. The Baddest Man on the Planet. The youngest world champ in history. If anybody has a hope of KO-ing Jake Paul, it's Tyson, right?

Well, UFC star and podcast host Joe Rogan was one of these excited fans, and he explained on X that he was hoping for some "magic" that the Tyson-Paul fight would live up to the hype.

"I’m getting ready to watch this Tyson vs Jake Paul fight like I’m watching someone cast a spell that I hope actually works," Rogan wrote prior to the big fight, adding: "And I don’t really believe in magic. But I want to believe."

Sadly, after eight two-minute rounds, it was clear that the fight was not what any of us hoped it was going to be. In fact, I think it's safe to say that it went how we all expected it to go.

A YouTuber-turned boxer fighting a 58-year-old man who has since admitted he "almost died" earlier this year. Paul was eventually declared the winner by a unanimous judge's decision in what was a lackluster bout.

The led to Rogan sharing a brutal three-word tweet following the final bell. "Magic isn’t real," he wrote bluntly.

Toward the end of the eighth round, Paul displayed a sign of respect and lowered his gloved to bow to Tyson.

Tyson responded by offering Paul a glove, before the final bell rang and the two embraced one another with a hug.

"Respect to Jake Paul for letting him exit with dignity. He could have put it on Mike and he held back," one X user wrote.

Another added: "This is true warriorship, Jake Paul showing respect and bowing to the legendary Mike Tyson."

Following the fight, Paul paid respect to Tyson on X, writing: "Love you, Mike. It was an honor. You're an inspiration to us all."
