An Olympic hopeful at the heptathlon team trials has been applauded for competing while 18 weeks pregnant.
In preparation for the forthcoming Tokyo Olympic Games, American athletes have been taking part in various trials in the hope of making it onto Team USA.
And while sportsmen and women are known for their dedication - it's fair to say that very few have shown as much dedication as Lindsay Flach.
The 31-year-old heptathlete had been competing for a spot in the seven-sport event while in her second trimester. This marked the third time Flach has taken part in an Olympic trial for her spot at the Games after previously competing in the 2012 and 2016 trials.
Sporting a noticeable baby bump in an image she posted to Instagram as she competed, she wrote: "3rd Olympic Trials. This one looks a little different Every story has an end but in life, every end is a new beginning. The secret is no secret anymore."
Needless to say, the expectant mother's story inspired plenty of people who praised her for competing months into her pregnancy.
One fan wrote: "Amazing! What a great role model you are to so many and your new baby!"
Another added: "As someone that is 21 weeks pregnant and gets winded walking up the stairs - I am in AWE of you! Literally AMAZING!"
And the praise, as well as congratulations, just kept pouring in, with yet another user writing: "Congratulations to your new life and your journey! Welcome to the mommy club on your own terms."
Another added: "I’m 18 weeks tomorrow! Thanks for providing today’s workout inspiration! Gotta keep moving. Best wishes!"
While a final person shared: "Congratulations!! Thank you for being one that shows heck yes… women and moms ARE strong and our pregnant bodies are very capable. Wishing you a great and healthy pregnancy!"
Per HuffPost, Flach competed in every single event and finished 15th out of the 18 heptathlon competitors.
Well done, Lindsay Flach - you're an inspiration to many!
