Piers Morgan has taken to Twitter once again to bash Simone Biles after she was named Time magazine's "Athlete of the Year".

The former Good Morning Britain host has been using his platform to discredit the athlete after she withdrew from events at the Tokyo Olympics this past summer due to concerns over her mental health.

Writing an entire column for the Daily Mail over Biles' decision to pull out of some of the events after she started suffering from what is known as the "twisties", he told the 24-year-old gymnast in no uncertain terms: "You let down your teammates, your fans, and your country."

Now, in the wake of Time magazine's decision to name Biles its Athlete of the Year, Morgan has yet again taken aim at the gold medallist.

The 56-year-old wrote in a tweet to his 7.9 million followers on Thursday, December 9: "Ridiculous. We should celebrate winning in sport - not quitting."

And in a follow-up tweet, the controversial TV personality added: "'Athlete of the Year' for someone who quit on her team so they lost, then recovered in time to compete in her solo event a few days later? Pur-lease."

A number of Morgan's followers took issue with his repeated singling out of young women who have been candid about their mental health. They also pointed out his hypocrisy considering he famously walked out mid-air during a heated discussion about Meghan Markle on Good Morning Britain.

One person responded: "Dude, you quit your job mid-programme because your station weatherman mildly rebuked you. Take a seat."

Another said: "I can not see his tweets as I'm blocked but let me guess it's most likely about 1. Megan 2. a woman of colour. 3. Something about sport."

A third chimed in: "For once you completely missed the point Piers. Mental health is more important than winning or even Sport and there should be more awareness about it. We are losing far too many people to mental health illness because it is not getting enough attention. Kudos to @TIME ."

A fourth commented: "Piers doesn't understand that winning isn't the only thing in sports. Sidenote: it's *SO* on brand for you to disparage a black woman. Literally zero surprise when I saw this."

Congratulations to Simone Biles for the incredible recognition from Time!
