Tom Cruise is reportedly shooting a movie in outer space with Elon Musk because, of course, he is.

In a Deadline exclusive, it was revealed that the actor and tech entrepreneur were teaming up with NASA to shoot an action-adventure film in outer space - the first of its kind in human history.

However, the news outlet reports that the project is currently in its early stages and there is no studio involved... yet.

Watch Tom Cruise do his stuff in this Jack Reacher street fight:

This is a completely believable feat for Cruise, who is famed for his dedication to his own stunts, so much so that he had to take a break from the Mission Impossible franchise after beaking his leg jumping from one rooftop to another.

And in case your memory needs jogging, in Mission: Impossible: Ghost Protocol, Cruise scaled the Burj Khalifa in Dubai, carrying out stunts at 123 floors up, so all things considered, getting in shape for space should be a piece of cake for the 57-year-old.

If this movie successfully comes to fruition, it will blow the actors who have pretended to be in space for films out of the water. We're looking at you Tom Hanks (Apollo 13), Ryan Gosling (First Man), Matt Damon (The Martian), George Clooney (Gravity), and Brad Pitt (As Astra).

However, given that Cruise still has a pair of Mission Impossible movies left to film, it's safe to say that this is a project that won't be happening until much further down the line.

It's also worth noting that Cruise recently hit the headlines after Rob Lowe said he went "ballistic" after having to share a room with him filming The Outsiders, so we can only hope Cruise gets his temper under control before going into space.

This news comes as it broke today that Elon Musk has just welcomed his sixth child with Canadian singer Grimes, sharing a picture of the newborn on Twitter.
